Beatrice M. Brown
Beatrice M Brown (nee Pipe) was called home to Glory at the age of 96 on October 18, 2024. God had given her an abundantly blessed life and we are rejoicing that she is in Heaven. Bea was born in Avoca, NY on September 8, 1928. She lived most of her life in the Southern Tier of New York. She accepted God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection when she was a young teen attending Daily Vacation Bible School. She married the love of her life, Charlie Brown on August 18, 1946. He went to Heaven on their 74th anniversary. Bea and Charlie had 4 children, Martha, Beverly, Stephen, and Richard. They were members of the Southside Baptist Church in Hornell since the early 1950’s (later renamed Hillside Baptist Church). They were very involved at the church, especially hosting out-of-town guests. Bea worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for 20 years. They spent 25 winters in Florida, most of them at Maranatha Village in Sebring. In 2010 they gave up their home in Hornell and moved in with Martha and Bill Schill in Barrington, NJ. Their last year in Florida was 2014.
Beatrice was the youngest of 6 children born to Maude E (Horton) and Hart C Pipe. She had many nieces and nephews that always viewed her as a special and favorite Aunt Beaty. She leaves behind several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Sugar cookies, hand knitted sweaters and haircuts were just some of her talents appreciated by those who loved her, especially her family.
Bea and Charlie lived with Martha and Bill (deceased) Schill until God took them Home. Her second daughter Beverly and husband John Lorow are also deceased. Stephen joined Dad in Heaven 4 months after Dad passed in 2020. His wife Diane (nee Billings) lives in Georgia. After Dad passed, her youngest son, Richard moved in with Bea and Martha in NJ. He and Marge (nee Vogel) were recently married and are living in NJ.
Bea’s greatest desire was for others to come to know Jesus as their personal Savior. She witnessed and showed love wherever she was. She spent the last 11 days of her life on hospice. Martha was holding her hand while God took her peacefully to be with Him.
The family is spending private time together in NJ to remember Bea (Mom, Grandma Brown). Future plans are undetermined at this time. If anyone wants to remember or honor Bea with monetary gifts, they can be sent to ABWE (Association of Baptists for World Evangelism) for her grandson and wife, Ken and Eileen Lorow, who are missionaries. Bea always referred to Ken (Beverly’s son) as her third son after Stephen and Richard. ABWE address is Box 8585, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8585. https://abwe.org/give/. Funeral arrangments by the DuBois Funeral Home.
