Barry L. Oehlers
Barry Lee, age 85, on September 23, 2024 of Haddon Twp., formerly of Collingswood. Beloved husband of 63 years to Jean, loving father to John (Becky) and Lisa (Larry) Denner, and devoted grandfather to Jacqueline, Emma (Luke), Steven (Claudia), and Sophie (Thomas). Also survived by his nephew and nieces David (Karen), Debbie, Karen, and Patti (Doug). Predeceased by his parents, Herbert & Lillian and his sister, Barbara (Fred) Witt. Barry was a 1956 graduate of Collingswood HS, served in the US Army, and eventually earned his bachelor’s degree from Temple Univ. He spent summers in Ocean City, where he met his wife, Jean, while commuting on the Pennsylvania Seashore Line from work to the shore. Barry worked as an accountant, first with his father at Fisher, Bruce & Co. in Philadelphia, and then for Philadelphia College of Bible, currently known as Cairn University in Langhorne, Pa. After retiring from accounting in 2004, he worked part-time for many years as a limo and hearse driver for numerous funeral homes in the area. When not working, Barry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time in O.C. with his family or traveling to various European countries with Jean. Barry also enjoyed taking care of his lawn and gardens, as well as being skilled in carpentry, auto mechanics, and electrical repair. He was quite a handyman. A member of Haddon Heights Baptist Church since 1960, he faithfully served there as a member of the choir, a trustee, and treasurer over the years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but we rejoice in knowing that he will spend eternity with Our Lord in Heaven. Funeral services will be held at Haddon Heights Baptist Church; 300 Station Ave, Haddon Heights, NJ, 08035 on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. and the service begins at 10 am. Interment at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Haddon Heights Baptist Church, 300 Station Ave., Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Arr. DuBois Funeral Home, Audubon.
