John Bier 1964-2024
John was the beloved husband of Linda Murphy Bier for 36 years. John and Linda knew each other their whole lives as their parents were best friends; they started dating in high school and shared a love for the Lord, spending time at the beach, and finding ways to make each other laugh. John was a dedicated father to Kathy, Andrew (Lizzy), Thomas (Marissa), Mary Beth (David), Colin, Kevin, and his “adopted daughter” Jessica Butts, as well as Pop Pop to James, Eden, Adelaide, Phoebe, and baby Bier coming in January. John inherited a love for baseball, particularly the Yankees, from his father and he passed it along to his sons. John was an enthusiastic fan of the Phillies, the Eagles, and the Sixers, and he bonded with his children through sports. He was also a coach to each of his six children as they grew up playing baseball or softball. He loved to share stories about his childhood, his job, and his life with his family. John also cherished spending time with his grandchildren coloring, playing cars and trains, and talking in silly voices.
John grew up in a Christian family with five siblings, Jack, Jennifer, Jeffrey, James, and Jerry. His parents, Jack and Jill Bier, were long-time members of Haddon Heights Baptist Church. John was converted at a young age after his mother explained the gospel to him; that he was born a sinner, that his sin separated him from a holy God, but that God sent Jesus into the world to live a perfect life, die on the cross, and to be raised from the dead, so that any who would believe in the work of Christ on their behalf would be saved. John believed, and for the rest of his life he sought to serve and follow Jesus.
Along with the rest of his family, John attended HHBC for most of his life. As a faithful member of the church, John served as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, deacon, and church comptroller. For a few years in John’s youth, his family moved to Memphis, TN where his father started the family business, B.A.C. Associates. After a few years of working as an accountant, John joined his father and his brother Jerry at B.A.C. He so enjoyed his work of providing financial services and encouragement to pastors, churches, and Christian schools all across the country. His family has confidence that John is in heaven with his Savior and that they will see him again. John’s wonderful testimony and legacy will continue through the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service honoring John’s life on Friday, September 27th, 2024, at the Haddon Heights Baptist Church: 300 Station Ave, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed immediately by his funeral service at 7:00 p.m.
