She is also survived by her brother Stephen, Jr (Tara) and her sister Charis. Also survived by Grandmother Janice Mortimer, nephew Seth and niece Sadie and many uncles, aunts, cousins, great uncles, great aunts and second cousins.

Bethany Sue Mortimer was born August 4, 1980, in Mount Holly, NJ into a Christian family and was the third of three siblings, Stephen and Charis. Her parents were involved in pastoral ministries, and she moved many times in New Jersey, Michigan, Texas and Delaware. It was in Delaware that she graduated high school in Milford, DE in 1998. She was gifted in art and studied at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, PA. She served an internship during that time with T. C. Lei & Associates and Alexander Perry, Inc. and worked as a server at a few of the restaurants in Philadelphia, PA.  Some of her intern projects were the seating for Citizens Bank Stadium and Will’s Eye Hospital.  She graduated with a bachelor – Interior Design in September 2001.

Her employment included: Cad Technician for Toll Brothers of Morrisville, PA; Feinberg and Associates of Voorhees, NJ; Arthur Rutenburg Homes of Clearwater, FL; Grant Homes Inc, in partnership with Florida Structural Engineering of Tampa FL; Bath Fitters in Akron, OH; Schell Brothers in Rehoboth Beach, DE. She also started a drafting subcontracting company B Mort’s Drafting & Design and waitressed at several diners over the course of her career.

Bethany enjoyed animals, gardening and the beach. Her love for art was fostered in High School by her art teacher and enjoyed a special time of helping paint sets for the high school plays, she has crafted art drawings of homes, the beach, flowers and animals, made masks of animals, and planted flowers just to watch them grow and see the beauty of God’s creation.

She also enjoyed sports and music. She played field hockey, softball, basketball, volleyball.

Her senior field hockey team won the championship! In music, she sang in the choir, learned to play piano, flute and drums.

Through all of her accomplishments she loved her son, David, and loved the Lord Jesus Christ.  She was not perfect, but she was forgiven. She struggled often with her disorder but would journal her thoughts and reflect on biblical thoughts from Scripture. She would tell me a times that the Psalms and Proverbs were the only books that made sense to her.  I was thankful that God’s Word was something she would still turn towards. Friends and family are invited to attend Bethany’s funeral service on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, at the Haddon Heights Baptist Church: 300 Station Ave, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Her visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Interment will take place at Erial Cemetery in Sicklerville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship fund for her son, David Mortimer.
