Elissa Goss
Elissa Goss (née Toepperwein) of Cherry Hill, NJ, age 88 years, passed away on June 16, 2023, surrounded by her family in her home. Born in New Jersey, she was the daughter of Gustav and Marjorie Toepperwein. She is predeceased by her husband, James, and her sisters, Lou Ann and Nancy. She is the beloved mother of four children, Susan (John), Greg, Linda, and Michael (Nikki); cherished grandmother of three grandchildren, Casey, Hannah, and Madden; and loving sister of Fran Magee.
Elissa was born in Camden, NJ and lived in many states throughout her life. She graduated from Haddon Heights High School (’52) and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Albright College (’56), and her master’s degree in Geriatric Nursing from Gwynedd Mercy University (’88), where she was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau honor society.
Elissa dedicated herself to the Profession of Nursing, having served as a Registered Nurse for over 50 years. She taught for 40 years as a nursing instructor, most recently at the Helene Fuld School of Nursing in Camden, NJ. After she retired from Helene Fuld, she continued to utilize her nursing skills by administering flu shots and physicals in Camden County.
Elissa loved life! She loved participating and cheering on her children and grandchildren in their many activities as well. For years she was the Strokes and Turns Judge for swim meets at Covered Bridge Swim Club, while her husband, Jim manned the Microphone and announced. As her children got older and grandchildren arrived, she cheered on both generations in Football, Swimming, Field Hockey, Street Hockey, Soccer, Softball, and Robotics.
Elissa loved her groups and clubs. She was an avid bridge player and book club enthusiast. She loved being part of the Rebekah Circle at Trinity Presbyterian. She loved time with her family, traveling the world with her sister Fran, and also planning an Ocean City vacation with the entire family every year.
Elissa was most passionate about volunteering and serving others. She served the Trinity Presbyterian Church of Cherry Hill as a Deacon for many years, the Cherry Hill Food Bank, and Cathedral Kitchen.
Visitation is Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 499 Route 70 East, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.  The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be private at the request of the family.  As we celebrate Elissa’s life please feel free to wear bright colors of the season.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cherry Hill Food Pantry, https://cherryhillfoodpantry.org/donateinfo/.  Funeral arrangements under the direction of DuBois Funeral Home, 700 South White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ 08106.  Condolences and memories may be shared at DuboisFuneralHome.
