Charles Legge Jr.

HADDONFIELD- Charles Legge Jr. passed away on February 5, 2023 at St. Mary’s Center in Cherry Hill, NJ.  He was born in Upper Darby, PA on July 1, 1935.  He was a graduate of West Chester State Teachers College, did graduate studies at Villanova, and then received his masters degree from Rowan University (formerly Glassboro State).  He taught math on the Main Line before becoming a guidance counselor in Black Horse Pike Regional Schools and Salem Community College. He also coached track, soccer, and wrestling.  Charles served in the Air Force National Guard before receiving his honorable discharge.

In retirement he was a track and field official, he sang in the Pine Barons Barbershop Chorus, was active in the Haddonfield 65 Club, and was a member of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge.

Charles raised his family in the Haddonfield United Methodist Church with his beloved wife, Patricia, of 65 years.  They enjoyed traveling, church choir, movies, the theater, restaurant experiences, and celebrating holidays together.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor, being a numbers man, helpful hands, loyalty, and being a devoted family man.

Charles is predeceased by his daughter, Donna Jenkins.  He is survived by his wife, Patricia Legge (nee Arehart); daughters, Sherry Simms (Glenn) of Tulsa, OK and Kimberly Legge (Sean) of Milford, NJ; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Thomas, Hannah, Brittney, Brooke, Jessica, and Matthew; 10 great-grandchildren; and also loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday February 17, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Road, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.  Memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm.  Internment will be in the HUMC Memorial Garden.  Funeral arrangements under the direction of DuBois Funeral Home, 700 South White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ 08106.  Condolences and memories may be shared at DuboisFuneralHome.
