William F. DeFrates
On March 28, 2021, William Francis (Frank), age 99 years, beloved husband of Joan D. (nee Benedict), of Haddon Heights, NJ. He was the devoted father of James DeFrates (Sherry) and Diana G. DeFrates-Craig. He was also the loving brother of Marguerite Peacock. He was the cherished grandfather of Hannah and Sarah. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Frank served in the US Army as a Private 1st Class during World War II. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart. After his recovery he started the DeFrates Insurance Agency, 614 South White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ 08106. He was an Insurance agent for over 72 years. Frank was a former trustee of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Haddon Heights, NJ. He was a member of the Murray Trout Post 262 in Audubon, NJ. He also was a member of the DAV. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. Frank was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He will be sadly missed.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Logan Memorial Presbyterian Church, 18 West Merchant Street, Audubon, NJ or to the Murray Trout Post 262, 20 Chestnut Street, Audubon, NJ 08106.
