Richard C. Lucchesi

Richard C. Lucchesi, age 74 of Haddon Township, passed away on June 19, 2019. Only son of the late Fred J. Lucchesi and Natalie (nee Bertino) Lucchesi. Loving husband of Winifred (nee Wurm) Lucchesi. Dear brother of Marie Carol DiMeo. Beloved uncle of Richard DiMeo, Lisa DiMeo, Mark DiMeo, Kathy Quinones, and Douglas DiMeo. Also survived by several great nieces and nephews.

Richard grew up in Philadelphia and attended catholic school (St. Monica’s and Bishop John Neumann) until his junior year of high school when he moved with his family briefly to Westfield, NJ. During childhood he enjoyed summering with extended family at his grandfather’s Beach Haven home on Long Beach Island, NJ. Following a year at Villanova University as a Business major, he served in the US Marine Corps Reserves for 6 years during the Vietnam War era. He graduated from Rutgers University, Camden with a BA in Economics. Upon graduation he embarked on a year and a half “European Odyssey” which included stays in Spain, France, Tunisia, and Morocco. He worked for 20 years as an Auditor with the Treasury Office of Inspector General (OIG) at the US Mint in Philadelphia. He later studied for and became a CPA. Richard worked diligently at many jobs, including as a Regulatory Compliance Analyst for Lockheed Martin, in Cherry Hill, and most recently at Conduent, in Cherry Hill. He was a former member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church, where he married, and was a current member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, in Cherry Hill. Richard’s hobbys included photography and crossword puzzles. He had a love of learning and thinking, which began in childhood by reading through the entire family encyclopedia set. Richard joined Sigma Epsilon Phi while at Rutgers and has maintained lifelong friendships with his fraternity brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 10:00am – 11:00am at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 520 Kings Highway, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Funeral Service to follow at 11:00am. Interment will take place in the Camden County Veteran Cemetery portion of Harleigh Cemetery, Camden.
